Rich Autumnal WEDDING INSPIRATION At The Hundred House
As featured on The English Wedding Blog - April 2021
Our colour palette chose itself for the autumn months, with warming oranges, yellows and reds accompanied by a contrasting dark green. We wanted to show how beautiful a small wedding or elopement would be at a cosy country venue like the Hundred House (which is just down the road); focusing on the couple, showcasing that by keeping things simple with fewer guests, you might choose instead to splurge on outfits and jewellery or go all out on the details like stationery, flowers and cake.
I designed the dress especially for this shoot and as an extra surprise, it is two dresses in one! Designed as a soft crepe, strappy dress, the bride’s look can be worn two ways or transformed from day to night. The dress transforms very simply, with a sleeved lace layer dropping away to reveal the simple, backless crepe dress with delicate strap detail. To add some drama to this simpler dress, I designed a lace edged tulle cape with a dramatic lace collar and matching lace edge, which showed off the shape of the cape. This cape is finished with beautiful silk covered buttons and loops along the shoulder.
The lace layer has full length, fitted sleeves and a full skirt which hangs beautifully due to the soft drape of the lace. I balanced the higher neckline at the front of the dress with a low V at the back, creating such a flattering look on our model, Dionne. As an extra detail the lace opens at the front of the skirt with a tulle insert, showing off the crepe layer underneath.
