In celebration of 2021 being the 10 year anniversary of opening My little Wedding Shop, I have teamed up with Haworth Weddings to create a series of mini-films that showcase my twist on Bridal Wear design. The films are inspired by English Folklore and the first film celebrates the start of Spring!
We have entitled the film Hare & Seek and we follow our Hare as she hunts for the perfect egg. I am so proud of the team that came together to create this unique film especially during a time when planning any kind of shoot was extra complicated! Read on to find out about everyone who came together to create this mini-work of art!
This film features a new bridal design in champagne silk embellished with hand cut and beaded lace motifs and with an incredibly dramatic silk chiffon wrap around skirt. This dress is now available to try-on at the boutique.
Haworth Weddings are a brilliant Husband and Wife duo of filmmaker and photographer who have such a fresh take on how to tell a story. Dan & Laura came up with the premise of the film and scripted out each section so vividly, I could picture every moment. Their vision of the shoot and the end result we were aiming for was so inspiring and I am so thrilled with our little film…I can’t wait to start planning the next one!
I have had so many comments about the mask that we have used for our Hare and it is definitely one of the most beautiful things I have ever purchased. Handmade by Curious Fair in Norwich this beautiful creation enabled us to realise the vision behind our film. Handcrafted using real, natural goose, hackle & pheasant feathers and finished with hand painted twigs and poppy stems I was in love at first sight!
The venue for our film was absolutely perfect, the exact feel that we wanted.
How Caple Court is a stunning venue located just outside Hereford with views toward the Forest of Dean and the Welsh Mountains. The gardens are extensive and breathtaking covering 11 acres, we only needed a small amount of this space for our film and decided to focus our shots around the stone terraces which lead up the main house. The deep green of the hedges contrasted so well against the old stone of the terraces, it added to the mythical feel we wanted for our film….as did the Peacocks, yes, Peacocks who roam freely around the grounds!
The jewellery for our Hare was provided by the incredibly talented jewellery designer, Elizabeth Terzza. Based in Hereford, Elizabeth draws inspiration from the natural world around here and creates jewellery with a simplicity of design and yet with such a wow factor, you don’t want to take it off! Elizabeth’s work is not just beautiful but also fully sustainable as she only uses recycled precious metals melted down from jewellery, electronics, giftware and medical equipment along with ethically sourced gemstones.
Elizabeth and I took advantage of the now commonplace approach of having a zoom meeting before the shoot to go through concept for the day, show the dress and choose the perfect pieces from Elizabeth’s collection. I just fell in love with the boldness of her Pine Cone inspired rings and necklace which you can see in detail in the full film.
Our Hare was actually the super-hardworking and beautiful Simone Stocks who agreed to take part in the shoot and has managed to bring a grace and sophistication to the film which belies how cold she was as the weather wasn’t exactly on our side throughout the day. Simone loved the premise of the film and threw herself into the part brilliantly. It was an absolute pleasure working with her and I think you can agree, when you see the film, she is beautiful.
I wanted our Hare’s bouquet to reflect the Spring theme of the film, keeping the colours light and pulling in texture and a wilder feel, at least that is what I managed to articulate to super-florist Will of Blooms of Bridgnorth and once again, he blew me away with a bouquet that was beyond my imaginings!
His bouquet was filled with herbs, subtle shades of lemon and lilac, actual cotton-buds and wheat, just beautiful and it smelled wonderful too!
The film follows our Hare on an egg hunt and I wanted the final egg to be something very special. After a lot of thinking, internet searching and chatting through ideas my fab friend Yvette lent me some of her Rhea Eggs which are the size of my hand and have a beautiful iridescence to their shell. I decorated one of these eggs with lace and beads to match the bridal gown and I think the end result was pretty much perfect!
The final piece to our puzzle was provided by Jennifer of Jennifers Dressing Table. A truly talented Make Up Artist and Hair Stylist, Jennifer completely embraced the idea of the day .
Keeping the hair loose with a natural, bohemian feel really completed the look we wanted while keeping Simones’ make-up natural and ensuring the mask stayed in place!
(I am not sure why but I seem to be channelling Rick Mayall in this picture, so please ignore that!)
So I hope you love our little film as much as we loved creating it, I would love to hear your feedback!
