“My dress. My dress! It was a work of art and I felt a million dollars: like the best version of me. The shape, fabric and touches of joyous colour were exactly what I wanted, and the teal underskirt "reveal" for the evening made me feel a little bit cheeky and very ready to party! It was fab! The length and colours surprised many - but all said I looked gorgeous and like "me". I received so many wonderful compliments - not least from Dean. I couldn't ask for more than that!
The whole process was an absolute pleasure too. It felt a little bit nerve-wracking to have a dress designed from scratch - especially having found nothing remotely similar to what I wanted elsewhere, to try on beforehand - but you really listened to my rough ideas and built on them to create a beautiful design, with lots of fantastic ideas. When I saw you sketching the dress during the consultation, I thought you were making notes, so to suddenly see what I'd just been trying to articulate, there, on the paper in front of me - it blew me away.
Throughout, you patiently listened to and addressed any thoughts or concerns I had and graciously made several small tweaks (that probably took hours to do) to ensure I was 100% happy with the final result. And you kept coming up with fantastic ideas, even when the dress was almost finished (the belt and the colour reveal!)!
Thank you for making what could have been a daunting experience a fun one, and for your patience, good humour - and especially your outstanding skill. I will recommend you wholeheartedly to anyone who wants a wedding dress.
Finally, here's one anecdote from the big day I think you'll appreciate: my mum was helping me get into the dress, diligently following the detailed instructions she'd written down during the dressing lesson. She measured the gap at the top of the corset and exclaimed that she had inadvertently drawn it a little tighter than the specified "12 centimetres". Going to loosen it, I stopped her and said "Mum, it feels absolutely fine. In fact, go a bit tighter!". Well, my poor mum was so conflicted, I think she thought she was going to make me faint like a Victorian lady:
"But the instructions say 12 centimetres!!!" she protested,
"Mum, it's fine, do it tighter!" I reassured her,
"But it says 12 centimetres!"
"Really it's fine, just do it!"
"But, it says - "
"Tighter!"
"But - "
"TIGHTER!!!" I roared.
Thanks again Jenny, so much. You are an absolute master at what you do!
